At Golden Rule Design & Build, we believe that excellence in craftsmanship should go hand in hand with excellence in character.

That’s why we’re proud to introduce Happy Hours: Golden Rule Gives Back—a new charitable initiative aimed at serving our local community in meaningful and practical ways. Each quarter, our team will head out into the community to complete service projects focused on improving accessibility, safety, and quality of life for individuals and families in need.

These service projects will be completed in just a few hours on Friday afternoons—our “Happy Hours”— by small, dedicated teams of Golden Rule employees. We intentionally mix field and office staff to foster deeper team connections and encourage mentorship across roles. Golden Rule will cover all labor and material costs, so recipients can receive these needed improvements without any financial burden. Whether it's installing handrails for a senior, building safe stairs or a ramp for a neighbor with mobility challenges, or addressing a minor home safety concern, our goal is simple: to use our skills and resources to bless others.

Through this initiative, we aim to complete many annually, and we hope our work will spark a ripple effect of generosity in the communities we serve. Happy Hours isn't just about what we build—it's about who we become in the process.  It’s one more way we live out our mission: Together, we pursue excellent work and meaningful relationships to positively impact lives.

To ensure that our efforts create the greatest impact, Happy Hours: Golden Rule Gives Back projects will be selected through a quarterly nomination process. Anyone in our community is welcome to submit a nomination using the form linked below. Our team will review each submission with care, prioritizing projects that align with our mission to improve safety, accessibility, and quality of life—particularly for individuals in genuine need. We place special emphasis on serving women in need and others facing challenging circumstances. After initial review, selected nominations will receive a brief site visit from our staff to assess feasibility and determine how we can best help. Our goal is to say “yes” as often as possible and to make a real difference, one project at a time.
